Nerve Decompression

Nerve Decompression is a surgical procedure that releases the pressure placed on a nerve when an activity or condition causes irritation and inflammation on tendons, ligaments and other surrounding soft tissue – commonly seen at the elbow and wrist in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Cubital Tunnel Syndrome.

Dr. Jafarnia most often performs these procedures endoscopically, a less invasive outpatient procedure posing minimal disruption to surrounding soft tissue. The procedure and delicate instruments are designed to relieve the pressure placed on the nerve, therefore relieving the numbness and pain hindering hand or arm function.

occupational therapy may follow a nerve decompression procedure when indicated two days to one week following the procedure.
