Medication

Most common hand and upper extremity conditions are first addressed using conservative, non surgical treatment such as non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and corticosteroidal or other injection therapy. This medication helps relieve the pain and inflammation associated with chronic conditions such as arthritis as well as other nerve, tendon and ligament injuries and conditions. This allows patients to continue moving the limb or joint naturally, which is important in maintaining muscle strength and range of motion. It also facilitates rehabilitative exercises and occupational therapy which may be indicated.
